TFDP Season Announcement 2020-2021

In All, Digital Production, Events, Film & Video, Theatre by Saray Aguilar

Dear TFDP Community,

On behalf of the faculty and staff in the Department of Theatre, Film, and Digital Production, we are pleased to share our season for the 2020-2021 academic year. COVID-19 has forced us to consider the ever-evolving status of campus reopening and social distancing guidelines in our planning, and we have built in contingencies based on whether we will be creating art in person or remotely beyond the fall quarter.

PLAYS
WATER BY THE SPOONFUL by Quiara Alegría Hudes
November 19, 2020 (online)
In this Pulitzer Prize-winning play, the boundaries of family and community stretch across continents and cyberspace, as birth families splinter, and online families collide. This heartfelt reflection of lives on the brink of redemption challenges notions of family, forgiveness, community, and courage.

SHE KILLS MONSTERS by Qui Nguyen
February 11-20, 2021 (in person) OR February 18, 2021 (online)
A comedic romp into the world of fantasy role-playing games, this high-octane dramatic comedy is laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, offering a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

THREE SISTERS by Anton Chekhov, translated by Sharon Carnicke
May 6-15, 2021
One of the masterpieces of Western drama, Chekhov’s tragicomedy illuminates the bittersweet distance between dreams and reality, and the deep bonds of family and friendship that make mundane life so extraordinary.
