M. Butterfly, a Staged Reading

Rene Gallimard, a French diplomat, meets the woman of his dreams, the Chinese opera singer Song Liling, but not everyone is who they seem to be. Hwang’s witty play challenges Western ideas of Orientalism, gender roles, and sexuality.
