Dear students in the department of Theatre, Film and Digital Production,
As Playworks coordinator and departmental Chair, it is my pleasure to let you know about an exciting opportunity for developing and premiering new work.
Every year, the department produces Playworks, a festival of original plays by undergraduates and graduate students in our BA and MFA programs. The festival, which is generally a week long, takes place in late May to early June. Students write plays, direct and perform in these plays. Students who are participating in Playworks can earn 170 credit for their work. All students participating in Playworks as directors, actors or crew must enroll in the course by contacting Tony Baltierra (firstname.lastname@example.org).
This year, Playworks 2016 is scheduled for June 1-3 at 8:00pm.
Playworks is entered in the Kennedy Centre American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) competition whose regional festival (region eight) takes place annually in February in different university settings around the country.
Submissions of scripts for Playworks should be sent to Kate Anger (email@example.com) for undergraduate scripts and Erith Jaffe-Berg (firstname.lastname@example.org) for graduate scripts. The deadline for receipt of all scripts is March 16. (Final, polished scripts are due to Kate Anger by March 30).
If you are interested in directing for Playworks, please email Erith Jaffe-Berg.
If you are interested in stage management or crew, please contact Tony Baltierra.
I look forward to premiering this year’s slate of exciting new plays.
My best to all,
Prof. Erith Jaffe-Berg
