Richard Risso is a professor emeritus and one of the leading classical stage directors in the United States, and also has extensive credits as a classical stage actor. He received his B.A., from San Jose State, his M.F.A. from Carnegie Tech, and his Ph.D. from Stanford. He has directed extensively at UCR, and at outstanding regional theatre companies, including the Oregon and Utah Shakespeare Festivals, the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, and the Milwaukee Repertory Company. He won the 1983 Drama-Logue Award for Outstanding Achievement in Theatre .
