Born in Mokpo, South Korea, Keun-Pyo Park has an M.F.A. in Radio/TV/Film from the University of Texas at Austin. He has a diverse background as an independent filmmaker, theater director, and actor. Prior to UCR, Park taught film and video production at the University of Iowa and Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. His narrative and documentary short films, such as Wake, Starry Night, Prayer Wish, and The LA Riots 1992: Reflection on Our Future, have screened at venues worldwide, including Cannes International Film Festival as part of the Kodak Emerging Filmmaker Showcase, Arhus, Lyon, Munich, Jeonju, Asiana, Asian American Film Fests in LA, NY, and SF, Hawaii, Slamdance, and so on, and he received the Eastman Kodak Scholarship Award, Best Student Narrative Award at the Austin Film Festival, Best Student Voice at Jackson Hall Film Festival, Best Short Jury Award and 2nd Public Award at Lyon Asian Film Festival, France, and the Texas Filmmakers Production Fund for his previous short films, Wake and Starry Night.
His most recent shorts, The Years and Eric Barr’s A Piece of My Mind are on the film festival circuit including New York No Limits Film Series, Jozi Film Festival in South Africa, and Riverside International Film Festival 2015, Riverside, CA.
