Dear educators and college partners,
I’m reaching out to share information about Center Theatre Group’s robust Internship Program with educators who have brought groups of students to the theatre in the past few years.
All of our internships are paid. They vary by semester, and include opportunities in nearly every department, from Finance to Marketing to Casting. We welcome roughly 50 undergraduate and graduate-level students into our program annually, making it one of the largest theatre internship programs in the country.
Our fall 2017 internship applications are now available via www.CenterTheatreGroup.org/Internships. Applications are due September 15, but internships may be filled before the deadline. Please share this information with students and educators. I post on individual colleges’ job boards, time-permitting, but have found that the most common way for applicants to find out about the program is directly from a professor or staff member.
We are offering eight undergraduate internships and two graduate-level fellowships; all are paid, or can be taken for-credit if students need to fulfill an internship requirement. All require an application, cover letter and resume, and some have additional requirements outlined in the Internship Descriptions. Please utilize our comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions section, and feel free to contact me directly if your question isn’t addressed.
Available internships are as follows. Please note that applicants must visit www.CenterTheatreGroup.org/Internships for full instructions and the application form. Based on past fall semester data, I have included an estimate of how likely an applicant is to be selected for each internship. We encourage students to read the full descriptions of each internship, and consider applying for more than one internship if they are qualified and eligible for multiple positions.
Graduate Student Fellowships:
· Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access Fellow (30% selection chance)
· Literary Fellowship (15% selection chance)
· Account Sales Intern (40% selection chance)
· Artistic Programming Intern (10% selection chance)
· Community Partnerships Intern – ELAC and LACC students only (40% selection chance)
· Digital Communications Intern (10% selection chance)
· Donor Engagement Intern (40% selection chance)
· Human Resources Intern (40% selection chance)
· Kirk Douglas Theatre Management Intern (10% selection chance)
· Ticket Operations Intern (70% selection chance)
Students are encouraged to apply for fall internships in particular, as we get the fewest applications in fall. An applicant’s likelihood of selection into the CTG Internship Program by semester (applications divided by internships offered, by semester) for the past year was:
Fall: 38% selection rate
Spring: 13% selection rate
Summer: 11% selection rate
Campus visits, speakers & free workshops: I’m happy to come to your campus to speak about CTG, the internship program, and provide application tips and/or a full cover letter and resume-writing workshop (no cost to you or the students). I’ve found that this increases the number of applications from a campus and the percentage of students selected for our positions.
Thank you, and please let me know if you have any questions!
