2018 Jane Chambers Feminist Playwriting Contest

In All by Richard Gonzales

Each year the Woman and Theatre Program awards the Jane Chambers Playwriting Award to recognize plays and performance texts created by women that present a feminist perspective and contain significant opportunities for female performers. This annual award is given in memory of lesbian playwright Jane Chambers who, through her plays A Late SnowLast Summer at Bluefish CoveMy Blue Heaven, Kudzu, and The Quintessential Image, became a major feminist voice in American theater. This award is one of the few nationally recognized competitions for women playwrights and attracts over 200 submissions annually.

Winners will receive 1000 cash prize and the award-winning play will be given a reading at the 2018 ATHE conference which will be in Boston, MA August 1-5th.

This year we are accepting electronic submissions through the ATHE website as well as paper submissions. For electronic submission go to our sponsored page on the ATHE website: http://www.athe.org/?page=Jane_Chambers
